In New Ad, Hadley Duvall Shares Her Story, Highlights Trump-Vance Attacks on Reproductive Freedom
Duvall: “Girls like me across the country are suffering”
Today, on the third day of Trump’s Republican Convention, Biden-Harris 2024 is launching "They Don't Care," a new ad featuring Kentuckian Hadley Duvall, underscoring the threat of Donald Trump and JD Vance’s Project 2025 agenda on reproductive rights nationwide. Hadley became pregnant at 12 years old after being raped by her stepfather. She first told her story publicly in 2023, after an extreme abortion ban went into effect in Kentucky with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Airing ahead of JD Vance’s primetime address tonight at the Republican National Convention, “They Don’t Care” is the first time the Biden-Harris campaign has aired an ad mentioning Trump’s new running mate. Vance supported banning abortion without exceptions for rape and incest. When asked about his stance on whether anti-abortion laws should have exceptions for rape and incest survivors, Vance responded that “two wrongs don’t make a right.” Today, CNN also reported that Vance expressed his support in 2022 for a nationwide abortion ban, saying, “I certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally.”
“They Don’t Care” will air across the battleground states with a focus on programming that over-indexes for younger and more diverse audiences. The spot will include placements on the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, 60 Minutes, The Bachelorette, and pre-Olympic coverage. The spot will receive a seven-figure investment and is part of Team Biden-Harris’ ongoing $50M+ paid media program for July.
HADLEY DUVALL: Honestly, I didn’t even know what was possible for my future when I was a kid. I had always wondered, like, sitting in class, like, do these people go home and are they afraid of their dad too?
Whenever Roe v. Wade was overturned, immediately I just thought about being twelve. And first thing that was told to me when I saw that positive pregnancy test was you have options.
And you know if Roe v. Wade would’ve been overturned sooner, I wouldn’t have heard that.
And then it had me thinking that there’s someone who doesn’t get to hear that now.
Girls like me across the country are suffering. Their futures are being ripped away.
Trump and JD Vance don’t care about women. They don’t care about girls in this situation. They will continue to take our rights away.
In this election, we have a choice.
