📢 Freedom Over Fascism: How We Resist Authoritarianism—Together
🗽 Freedom over fascism means accountability, hope, and people power. Get the latest news, global warnings, and actions to resist authoritarianism.
Together, We Can Champion Freedom Over Fascism
Freedom is not passive. It is a daily act of grassroots activism and advocacy — of speaking out, showing up, and holding leaders accountable to the will of the people. In a world where billionaires, extremists, and strongmen try to rewrite the rules, Freedom Over Fascism exists to remind us of a simple truth: power still belongs to the people — if we use it.
This week’s news is not a collection of isolated stories. It is a pattern. An unauthorized war. Union contracts ripped away. Cities pressured to become arms of federal immigration enforcement. Online anonymity on the chopping block. Each story is a thread in the same fabric — and that fabric has a name. We have to call it what it is.

🚨 Freedom Over Fascism — News Briefs
🔒 Congress Is Moving to Kill Anonymous Speech Online — And Calling It “Child Safety”
A bipartisan package of a dozen “child online safety” bills is advancing through the House, including the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). The problem: there is no way to verify someone’s age without verifying who they are — meaning these laws would end online anonymity for everyone. Civil liberties groups warn the result would be unprecedented mass surveillance, making it easier for the government to track whistleblowers, identify protest organizers, surveil undocumented immigrants, and out LGBTQ+ youth. The Heritage Foundation has publicly stated it plans to use KOSA to remove LGBTQIA+ and abortion content from the internet. Meanwhile, the primary beneficiaries of mandatory ID verification are the very Big Tech companies these bills claim to regulate — including Meta and Elon Musk’s X. The Intercept
💸 The Iran War Is Costing $11.3 Billion — And Congress Wasn’t Even Asked
In a closed-door briefing this week, Pentagon officials told senators that the first six days of Operation Epic Fury cost more than $11.3 billion — and that figure doesn’t include the full cost of preparation, personnel, or ongoing operations. Sen. Chris Coons told reporters the real number is likely significantly higher: munitions replacement costs alone already exceed $10 billion. The U.S. burned through $5.6 billion in advanced weapons in just the first two days. Meanwhile, Trump told lawmakers it would be “a short-term excursion” finished “pretty quickly” — while his Defense Secretary told 60 Minutes “this is only just the beginning.“ Seven American service members have died. Congress was never asked to authorize any of it. Politico / NBC News
🚨 Trump Is Dismantling Federal Workers’ Rights — One Union Contract at a Time
The Treasury Department has unilaterally terminated its collective bargaining agreements with IRS workers and Bureau of the Fiscal Service employees — roughly 150,000 workers represented by the National Treasury Employees Union across 37 agencies. The move strips workers of union representation in disciplinary cases, halts all ongoing contract negotiations, and orders agencies to implement workplace changes without bargaining. A federal court had issued an injunction blocking enforcement — but a Ninth Circuit panel cleared the way for the terminations anyway. The union’s president said flatly: the IRS “cannot unilaterally end” this contract. Seattle Times / AP
🚔 Detroit Refused to Be Trump’s Immigration Police — And Paid a Price for It
Two Detroit police officers violated longstanding department policy by calling U.S. Border Patrol during routine traffic stops — leading to the detention of immigrants who had not been charged with any crime. The chief initially moved to fire both, calling immigration enforcement “not our lane.” Under legal pressure and after ICE posted on X telling the officers “we have a place for you, patriots,” the chief backed down, settling for 30-day unpaid suspensions. Investigators found evidence of at least four incidents of coordination, not two. Detroit has maintained a welcoming city policy since 2007. The federal government is now actively working to dismantle it. The Guardian
💔 Why It Matters and Who Is Harmed by Fascism
These stories are not abstract. They land on real people.
The IRS workers who lost their union contracts today have less protection when they face wrongful discipline, retaliation, or unsafe conditions. Their coworkers across 37 agencies face the same exposure — and the message to every other federal worker is clear: fall in line or lose your rights.
The immigrants detained in Detroit during routine traffic stops — not accused of any crime — now live with the knowledge that a broken taillight can end their life in this country. Their families live with that fear every single day.
The activists, whistleblowers, and LGBTQ+ youth who rely on anonymous online spaces to organize, survive, and speak truth will be most harmed when KOSA passes. Not the trolls lawmakers claim to be targeting. The most vulnerable.
And every American taxpayer is now funding a war that cost $11.3 billion in six days — a war no one voted for, launched without congressional authorization, with no clear endgame and a Defense Secretary who says it’s “only just the beginning.”
When leaders escape accountability, it signals that power — not justice — rules. It erodes trust. It fuels corruption. And it opens the door wider for what comes next.
📢 What Comes Next: Keep Being Loud
When we organize, speak out, vote, and demand accountability, we disrupt this pattern. We remind those in power that legitimacy flows from the people — and that freedom cannot survive without collective action.
🔒 Oppose KOSA — Contact your representatives. The right to anonymous speech is the right to dissent. Protect it.
💸 Demand war accountability — Ask your senators: where is the authorization? Where is the oversight? Who is paying — and for what?
🚨 Defend union rights — Stand with federal workers. An attack on their contracts is an attack on every worker’s right to organize.
🚔 Support welcoming cities — Back local leaders who refuse to turn police into immigration agents. That courage deserves our voices behind it.
💚 Build people power — Organize. Show up. Bring your neighbors. Every new person in this movement is one more voice that no billionaire can buy.
Billionaire-backed elites are scheming to suppress our voices, strip away our rights, and rule over us. But progress is more than an idea — it is a movement. By standing up, speaking out, and demanding dignity, opportunity, and justice for all, we build an America that truly lives up to its promise.
Power has always belonged to the people. It always will. Let’s use it.
Together, we can champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
